Mission
College of Medicine
- Crafting Physicians with a Heart
Mission
The heartbeat of Jose Maria College of Medicine’s (JMCM) establishment is Mindanao and its 30 million people thus, the medical curriculum was tailor-fit to its unique demographic, health and socio-cultural environment. It is, to a large extent, influenced by the Universal Health Care Law (Republic Act No. 11223) that seeks to reform the health system by addressing the health needs of the Filipinos through an integrated and comprehensive approach. Inspired by this groundbreaking law, the JMCM seeks to co-create a health care model that provides all Filipinos access to a comprehensive set of quality, cost-effective, integrative, promotive, preventive, curative, palliative, and rehabilitative health services.
Furthermore, JMCM recognizes that novel approaches and solutions are needed as the global and national health picture becomes more complex given the emerging and re-emerging communicable and non-communicable diseases, environmental and man-made disasters, international transfer of pathogens and people and the widening disparities in health outcomes. Broadly, the health situation requires fresh thinking and a fresh approach to the health professional’s education if there is to be any hope of achieving health by all.
In response, the JMCM commits itself to produce graduates that are imbued with the heart to serve and are ready to contribute to nation-building.
