1st Pinning and Send-off Ceremony of JMC Interns Held |

The 1st Pinning and Send-off Ceremony for student interns of Jose Maria College under the Bachelor of Science in Education and Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications programs was held last January 15, 2009 at the Audio-Visual Room of JMC. The event, with the theme “To desire is to obtain; to aspire is to achieve” was hosted by Lady Jade Canada and Judahnissi Calabroso. Dean of College, Ildefonso Betana; Maribel Lanticse, Intern Supervisor of Mass Communications Department; Cecille Porras, Intern Supervisor of the Education Department; Carina Betana, JMC Guidance Counselor; Office of the Student Affairs Director Rommel Gestopa; JMC administrative officials and staff; faculty members and college students. Clothed in their intern uniform, the students received their nameplates – the insignia symbolizing their pledge of commitment to the internship program. This ceremonial act of the formal entrance of the student interns to the realm of supervised practical experience was carried out by the School Administrator, Ms. Nelia Canada, and the Dean of College, Dr. Ildefonso Betana. After the pinning ceremony, Dean Betana, in his inspirational message, laid out the blueprint of the guidelines which the student interns and, particularly the Education students, ought to religiously follow. In the same manner, Nelia Canada encouraged the student interns to always pursue excellence throughout the internship program. “Remember that you are bearing the name of the school with you, and Jmarians have always been achievers,” Ms. Canada stressed. She likewise related to the audience how she has witnessed the development of the students since they first set foot on the JMC grounds four years ago. She commended them for their meritorious performance in academics throughout their college years. Mr. Bryan Alberto and Joan Espinosa – 2008 Licensure Examinations for Teachers (LET) board passers and products of JMC – took turns in giving testimonies of their experiences as student teachers at F. Bustamante National High School at Tibungco district. Each of them attested to the challenging yet fulfilling stint in the actual microcosm of teaching as neophytes. Alberto and Espinosa are now full time practicing teachers at the JMC secondary and elementary departments respectively. At the later part of the program, Ryanlee Mesias, a BS Secondary Education student intern, acknowledged the founding president of JMC, Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy, for the support he has showed the students in countless ways. Ellana Luz Pancho a Mass Communication student intern, likewise felt a surge of emotions as she extended her gratitude to the school administration and Ms. Maribel Lanticse, the Program Head of the Mass Communications Department. Before the event concluded, the newly elected set of officers of the Society of Active Educators (SAED) were sworn in by Mr. Rommel Gestopa, Director of the Office of Student Affairs Department. SAED is an official organization of the Education Department which aims to hone the students in their craft through various activities and projects. |
